Choosing your location for a shoot can be tricky. Rakiura has a range to choose from.

Some locations are better or afternoon light, and some better for morning.

See below some of the options.

BUtterfields Beach


This is a beautiful location for sunrise in the winter and summer months. This is a white sandy beach, with a grassy dune system. There is also a beautiful rock face offering so much diversity for such a small area.

It is also very accessible being close to the road and therefore perfect for families with small children.

Golf Course


This is a great location for a late afternoon session, a few hours before sunset. It is great for families due to its open grassy area.

You will require a pick up/drop off or a car to get to this location.

Wholers


Getting to this location can involve a slight trek, but this grassy view point offers a stunning backdrop of Paterson Inlet. I recommend this location for maternity, families of young babies/older kids or couples. Due to its location, it can be a slightly longer walk for toddlers. It is great for sunset and sunrise light. You will require a pick up/drop off or a car to get to this location.

BATHING BEACH


This Beach is quite central to the main township, therefore it is waking distance from most accomodations, but still has an element of privacy. This location is best for sunrise/early morning & in late afternoon a few hours before sunrise. It has so much diversity with Mill creek running through the sandy beach and a grassy and flax dune system tucked away from the rock cliffs. This is a great location for families with small kids.



LEE BAY


Lee Bay is beautiful location at sunset golden hour. A white sandy beach with rock pools at either end of the small bay that overlooks Mt Anglem, Rakiura's highest peak. Due to it being so close to the road, it is an easily accessible location for families with toddles & young children. You will require a pick up/drop off or a car to get to this location.


INDOOR STUDIO


This Indoor Studio is location at my home. As well as this being my indoor mini location, it is also great option for new babies as it is out of the weather. This is also a great back up option in case the weather isn't great and we don't have the means to reschedule.
